Dear Max,
August 10, 2013
This is one of those nights that will go down in the history books for me...But let's start at the beginning of the weekend. Grammie and Papa came to town! That's always fun when they come to visit us. And of course Grammie wanted to come by your school to read books to your class. Here are some pictures she took of you and your classmates! You LOVE having Grammie come into your class and she LOVES doing it! Now that she is retired I think she misses being around you sweet little spirits!
Then on Saturday night...Grammie, Papa, Daddy and I went out on a double date. Grammie and Papa were so excited because we went to see the Kingston Trio. Who's the Kingston Trio you ask...Well, I asked the same question, but decided not to look them up and to instead go with the "ignorance is bliss" method. I knew that it is one of Grammie and Papa's favorite bands from their youth, so if nothing more, I figured it would be a blast watching them. Here are my thoughts on the evening...
Seeing your Papa eat sushi for the first time....EPIC!
Going to a concert that I'd never heard of...better than I expected!
Watching Grammie and Papa see their favorite band from their youth....it was like having a time machine and seeing Grammie as a love sick teenager and Papa as a solider in the army, truly surreal to picture them in their youth! I have so much respect and love for their life, their love and I'll admit I am questioning if they were involved in some hallucinations. It's all fun and games until you listen to the lyrics as an adult and suddenly realize what they are REALLY singing about! And this was your favorite band?!? I'm confused!
I'm so grateful for Grammie and Papa and for all they do for our family. It is always so fun to spend time with them, and I hope one day you and your wife join Daddy and I at a Bon Jovi concert and we confuse just as much as Grammie and Papa confused Daddy and I tonight! I love you Max!!
Love,
Mom
