Summer

Dear Max,
As you get ready to go to pre-school I am sad to see the summer come to an end for you.  You have had the opportunity to be home with your daddy this summer.  You two have such a beautiful bond.  I gain so much joy watching the two of you together.  It's been a fun summer for the two of you!

I Love you!!!!!

You and Papa both injured

Dear Max,
August 17, 2013
This morning started off with a bang!  You and Bentley were horsing around and guess what...you got bit by Bentley.  This is the first time he has ever bitten you, and he did it right on your cheek.  I hate to tell you this, but you did deserve it and probably a long time ago.  Wait, that might be bad that I'm telling my child they deserved to be hurt!  What I mean is you love your dog, but you also TORTURE your doggie!  He puts up with a lot and sometimes...he's had enough.

The Battle Wound!

I love this picture and how Bentley is totally on a watch post with his eye on you...Going to take him a bit to start trusting again!

Later that day...It was fort building time!

But then things took a sad turn...Papa was working out in his shop when he fell.  It was super hot outside and he climbed up on a ladder to get a better vantage point to work from and KABOOM!  Down he went right on his knee and somewhere along the way banged up his face too.  He managed to drag his body and bum leg over to his truck to call Grammie.  She came with water, paper towels and then took Papa straight to the ER.  He has a broken leg :( It's going to be a long road to recovery that will require his patience.  I'm throwing a party for Rylea tomorrow so we couldn't rush up, but sent our love via text!

Not the best placement of a photo...but I had to share.  You love Pancake breakfast with your Daddy, he always makes you a Mickey Mouse Pancake!  You are one lucky dude!!!
We so blessed and so grateful that you and Papa were not hurt worse.  I love you Max!

Mom

I have so many questions...

Dear Max,
Tonight Daddy, mommy, Grammie and Papa all went out on a date night.  I was able to get Grammie and Papa tickets to the Kingston Trio.  One of their favorite music groups when they were growing up.  I will say this...your daddy and I were the youngest people there by a long shot!  Daddy and I laughed as we watch Grammie and Papa sing all the songs and scream for their favorites while we had no idea who these people were or what they were all about.  It was a fun night together!  We missed you and love you!

Love,

Mom

A weekend with Grammie and Papa...And I have some questions!

Dear Max,
August 10, 2013
This is one of those nights that will go down in the history books for me...But let's start at the beginning of the weekend.  Grammie and Papa came to town!  That's always fun when they come to visit us.  And of course Grammie wanted to come by your school to read books to your class.  Here are some pictures she took of you and your classmates!  You LOVE having Grammie come into your class and she LOVES doing it!  Now that she is retired I think she misses being around you sweet little spirits!

Then on Saturday night...Grammie, Papa, Daddy and I went out on a double date.  Grammie and Papa were so excited because we went to see the Kingston Trio.  Who's the Kingston Trio you ask...Well, I asked the same question, but decided not to look them up and to instead go with the "ignorance is bliss" method.  I knew that it is one of Grammie and Papa's favorite bands from their youth, so if nothing more, I figured it would be a blast watching them.  Here are my thoughts on the evening...

Seeing your Papa eat sushi for the first time....EPIC!
Going to a concert that I'd never heard of...better than I expected!
Watching Grammie and Papa see their favorite band from their youth....it was like having a time machine and seeing Grammie as a love sick teenager and Papa as a solider in the army, truly surreal to picture them in their youth!  I have so much respect and love for their life, their love and I'll admit I am questioning if they were involved in some hallucinations.  It's all fun and games until you listen to the lyrics as an adult and suddenly realize what they are REALLY singing about!  And this was your favorite band?!?  I'm confused!

I'm so grateful for Grammie and Papa and for all they do for our family.  It is always so fun to spend time with them, and I hope one day you and your wife join Daddy and I at a Bon Jovi concert and we confuse just as much as Grammie and Papa confused Daddy and I tonight!  I love you Max!!

A Mommy Staycation

Dear Max,
It is true...a little time away is always good.  But I do miss you and daddy so very much.  I'm so blessed to have such great friends in my life!  We call them all Auntie, cause they are truly the sisters I never had.  Aunt Julie, Aunt Teri, Aunt Andrea, Aunt Emilie and Aunt Andrea.  We were able to get away for a staycation here in Las Vegas at the Cosmopolitan.  We enjoyed dinner and a beautiful suite overlooking the Bellagio Fountains.  Lot's of late night conversations and laughter when this bunch get's together!  Always nice to come home to my family!  I love you Max!

Love,

Mom

August 2, 2013 - Girls Weekend

Dear Max,
I'm a lucky, lucky girl for so many reasons!  One is to be your mom, the other is to be married to your Daddy, who I love with all my heart and another reason is because I truly have some of the greatest friends in the entire world!

Aunt Teri, Aunt Emilie, Aunt Andrea and Aunt Julie all came down to Vegas for a night of fun.  We had an AMAZING suite at the Cosmopolitan, ate and AMAZING dinner the D.O.C.G.'s and went to see a GREAT show, Veronic at Bally's.  And then as usual, we stayed up way to late / early chatting!

The view from our suite

Our L shape wrap around balcony!

But no matter what...it's always good to be back home with my three boys!  I love you Max!!

Love,

Mom
