Splish, Splash You love the bath!

Saturday, February 28, 2009
Dear Max,
One of the funnest parts of your little world right now is bath time. You LOVE it! The moment I set you in the bath... you just let out a big sigh, representing the weight of the world, and just like that it all goes away! Bath time has been unofficially designated as my duty, and I love it. The trade off was washing bottles. I think I got the better end of the deal. Your dad does a great job washing bottles, but I'll tell you all about that another time. I think back to your first bath in this great big tub - and I never thought you would get too big for that tub... we are getting close. Love you Max!

Zen Baby

Friday, February 27, 2009
Dear Max,
I have to say Max, you are such a good baby. You've slept through the night since you were about 2 months old, you rarely get upset, only if your hungry or tired, and really it's just a little squawk...well on the hunger - when your tired we do refer to your settling as Custards Last Stand! You're not super loud right now - just real chill. Your dad and I always say your our "Zen Dude". Your Auntie Jali and Uncle Geary bought you the cutest outfit. Little did they know that it was going to be a perfect fit not only in size but in personality! Your dad and I call it your Yoga or Zen outfit...cause it looks like your heading out to the Yoga studio to become "one with the bottle." Thanks for being such a chill dude! We love hanging with you!!!

Boogity, Boogity, Boogity...Let's Go Racing!

Thursday, February 26, 2009
Dear Max,
Your daddy and I have been so excited this week as we prepare to attend the NASCAR weekend here in Las Vegas. We have been coordinating babysitting (Grandma is coming) and grocery shopping for the tailgate party. All this has been exciting, but today a real excitement hit! Your daddy and I got to see you as a true NASCAR fan! It was a crazy circumstance...your dad is working security today for Joey Lagano the Home Depot #20 Driver. I decided to take you over to visit dad and his co-workers today. We went early so we wouldn't be in the way with all the excitement of Joey coming to the store. We visited for about an hour and then left. No sooner do we pull out of the parking lot and your dad calls and said "turn back into the parking lot!" so I did. He said "turn left" so I did. then he said "turn right" so I did. The next thing I know I'm parked right in front of the #20 hauler. He says grab Max and meet me at the flags (they had the area all roped off from the public). So I grab you out of your car seat and ran to the flags. Your dad was there and grab you. They had started up the car and were driving it to the "viewing" area. It was loud... REALLY loud. And what does my boy do? Laugh! That's right! You loved the sound of the engine revving. It was so fun! I got this one picture with my camera phone. Your dad was more interested in what your reaction was going to be! Your dad and I can't wait till you can come with us to the race! We will be having fun this weekend, but we will be missing you terribly! We love you Max! Boogity! Boogity! Boogity!

Grandma T

Friday, February 20, 2008
Dear Max,
Tonight we went to St. George so you could see your Grandma. She is living in a care center because she has dementia. She has been there since September 2008, 5 months. She has good days and bad days. I can't wait to tell you all about her and her amazing life. She is such a brilliant lady with determination and strength beyond what I could measure. I have such a deep love and respect for her. She raised your daddy to be an amazing man and I'm so grateful she had the courage to accept the gospel as a teenager. Because of her decision to become a member of the church her children were raised with the gospel truth and you, her grandchild, have this blessing.

Tonight my heart broke a bit when we went in to see Grandma. We have visited together with you about 7 times since you arrived in December. However, tonight she couldn't remember who you were. I think of all the nights that we sat around Grandma's kitchen table and your daddy and I would tell her of our heart ache to be parents and she would cry with us, she wanted and waited so long for you and I hate that you are finally here and we have been given this challenge of dementia. I thought back to one of our visits in December when she was holding you and she would just breath you in. She loves the way you smell and then she said "Please let him know how much I love him!" "of course" we said. Max, I do want you to know how much your Grandma loves you and how long she has waited for you to come to our family. She, I think more than anyone else, prayed harder for you. Sometimes I felt that she was praying harder than even your Dad and I. She would always put our families name on the prayer role at the temple, every week. Her desire to see your daddy with his own children was an inspiration to me to keep fighting for children. She has given our family some amazing treasures in her lifetime. The moments when she has clarity her joy and happiness for you is overwhelming. You are so lucky to have a Grandma like this. I know that she will be an example and inspiration to you through out your life as you grow into a wonderful young man. I love you Max. And never forget how much your Grandma loves you too!

3 Months Old Today

Wednesday, February 18, 2009
Dear Max,
Today you are three months old! I can not believe how quickly the time has passed. Everyone told us that time would go quickly, but it is truly amazing how fast it goes. I'm so grateful you are a healthy and happy little guy... However, I'm afraid your no longer such a "little" guy. On Monday night your daddy asked me to set out your jammies so he could get you ready for bed. The next morning I went into your room and you were not in the jammies that I had set out for you. I asked your dad what happened. I thought, maybe your peed on them or slobbered too much when you were eating your bottle. Nope... these were not the explanation. THE JAMMIES DIDN'T FIT! WHAT? I thought for sure your dad was just lacking in sleep and that couldn't be possible. Sure enough when I went to dress you that morning. Your shirt was so tight and your little pants were short on you... but I still wouldn't believe it and left you in the clothes, until I went to change your diaper later in the day and your little pants were so tight on your belly that you had a red mark! I couldn't believe it - your 0-3 month clothes were not fitting. But they were just yesterday. Still unwilling to accept this fact I went up to your room and pulled out the bin on 3-6 month clothes, convinced that all of these outfits would drown you. I tried the first one on...guess what... IT FIT! So I tried again... IT FIT! And again... IT FIT! I tried every single outfit in the 3-6 month bin on you and they all fit. I just started bawling! I couldn't believe it...it's over! You will never be that small again. I can't believe how fast it went! I called your daddy - he thought I was crazy to be so emotional about this! So I called some friends for some sympathy and to tell them how cruel they were for not informing me of this terrible day. But the best solice was in calling your Grammie! She simply reminded me that your right on time! Doesn't it make sense that your turning three months this week and you would be moving into your 3 month clothing? WHERE IS THE JUSTICE!

Max we've waited so long for you to arrive and sharing every day with you is such a blessing. Yesterday was simply a reminder to how fast it is going by! You will always be my little guy, no matter how big you get! I love you with all my heart!

Warning: The camera has broke and I've been using the camera on my phone. Scary! Anyways the new camera is ordered and I can't wait till it arrives! Hurry quick Mr. UPS man!

I know this is a horrible picture - but it truly shows the sadness. We are both dressed in black so we could morn the loss of the 0-3 month clothes! My mascara all cried off and you exhausted after trying on an entire bin of clothes! We were a mess!

This is a picture of the disater it creates in packing away one set of clothes and getting out the others. I've started preparing myself - apparently we will be doing a lot of this in the first couple years!

Max - Exhausted! Sleeping on the recliner in his bedroom while I finish cleaning the mess that was created!

Your little sleeper say's "I have Issues" - you don't - I just thought it was a silly little sleeper and couldn't resist. Truthfully, I should have found one in my size! :)

Happy Valentines Day!

2/14/09
Dear Max,
Happy Valentines Day! You received lots of fun Valentines today from Cooper, Gramie and Grampy, your cousin Daniel, Nanna, and your mommy and daddy! We all love you so much! However, you were an "equal opportunity" lover this weekend. On Saturday you wore your "My Heart Belongs to Mommy" T-shirt and on Sunday you wore your "I Love Daddy" T-shirt. We don't play favorites around here. You also enjoyed a lovely evening with the baby sitter while dad and I went to the ward valentines party. We had such a nice time and I'm sure your little date with mommy's friend was lots of fun too!
MY HEART BELONGS TO MOMMY!

I LOVE DADDY!

This weekend was also marked with some firsts! Here they are:

Saturday you sat up in your Bumbo chair for the first time! Thanks to Aunt Natalie for hooking you up! You look like such the little man in your little chair. I love it! We sing lots of songs and dance with your hands and arms all while in the bumbo chair. Your dad was so enthralled with it he just sat you on the counter in your bumbo chair and turned on the video camera just to watch you. Is he silly or what!?!?!

Saturday night you slept the longest ever! You have always been a really good sleeper, sleeping at least 4 hours solid since we brought you home. However, Saturday you slept from 11:00 pm - 6:30 am! A new record of 7 and 1/2 hours! Nice job Max!!! That is the best Valentines gift you could ever give your mommy and daddy and we love you for it!

Sunday after church dad was changing your diaper and you decided to pee on him... this is not a first. However, it was enough of a mess that we decided a bath was in order. We got your bath ready and put you in... I was still holding onto you as you had this strange look on your face... I asked myself... Is the water to hot? But your not crying. Are you breathing? Yeah you're breathing. And then there it was... I couldn't believe my eyes... a floater! Your dad laughed while I disinfected the entire area - seventeen times!

In your Bumbo chair watching the Daytona 500! Almost as good as being there in person. And Kevin Harvick (#29) did not dissapoint you on your first race... 2nd place is great!
